Learn to drive properly, the first time.
One-to-one manual lessons across Islington, Angel, Finsbury Park, Highbury, Holloway, Stoke Newington and Archway — calm, structured teaching built around how you actually learn, not a script.
Every lesson is one-to-one with me, personally — no other instructors, so weekly slots are genuinely limited.

Local instructor, straightforward teaching.
Thomas Eagles is a DVSA-approved driving instructor (ADI No. 905938) teaching manual lessons across Islington, Angel, Finsbury Park, Highbury, Holloway, Stoke Newington and Archway. I got into instructing because I remember exactly what it felt like to be nervous behind the wheel — and I've built my lessons to take that pressure off, one clear step at a time.
Every pupil learns differently. Yours won't be a generic plan — it'll be built around whatever's actually holding you back, whether that's roundabouts, clutch control, or just nerves. What stays consistent is the structure: an honest read of where you're at, a plan to close the gaps, and enough real road time — roundabouts, dual carriageways, tight North London streets — that test day feels like just another lesson.
I currently teach through AA Driving School while I prepare to launch independently — so you get their training standards and support behind you, but it's still just me and you in the car, and I'm the one who actually knows these roads. I hold an enhanced DBS check, which parents of younger learners in particular often ask about.

From first lesson to test pass
Assessment lesson
I'll collect you from home, and we'll start by figuring out where you actually are — whether that's total beginner, a bit of experience already, or picking things back up. From there we build the plan around you: what you already know stays, what needs work gets the time it needs. No two pupils start in the same place, so no two plans should look the same either.
Building the routine
Practice doesn't make perfect — practice makes permanent. Repeat a habit enough times and it sticks, good or bad, which is why this stage is guided, not just miles on the clock. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre becomes automatic through repetition on real Islington and North London roads, not a test centre car park — and every repeat is building the right habit, not just any habit.
Test-ready
Mock tests, independent driving practice, and the "Show me, Tell me" vehicle safety questions — which we go through together, not just recited. We physically carry out the actions as we talk through them, so you understand what you're doing and why, not just a line you've memorised. Then a final honest check before we book your test date together.
